Today our workshop has been visited by this BMW X5 35d from 2009 with BIG turbo failure. This car will be sold shortly so actual owner want to make sure that new owner won’t buy a scrap. But we are specialists in turning scrap into gold!
Inspection
We had to check what was the reason of turbocharger failure and how we can eliminate it. But once we stripped down bigger turbo we get all the answers. Lack of service, too long periods between oil change and filter replacement caused loads of soot that finally damaged turbocharger.
Reconditioning and Replacement
We passed turbocharger to our regeneration team so we have now time to do services. We drained old oil and stripped feed pipes so we can unblock them and clean. We had to replace few hoses because we found splits.
Fitting Reconditioned Turbo
Once we replaced air and oil filter we can begin with fitting reconditioned turbocharger. We replaced both turbocharger big and small one. From our experience we know that if car is supplied with two turbochargers and one of them is gone then second one is on it’s way out too.
