Range Rover Sport Vogue Evoque Turbo Replacement TDV6 TDV8 3.0 3.6 4.4 – WITHOUT LIFTING THE BODY!

Today our workshop has been visited by this Range Rover Sport with 3.0 TDV6 from 2015. We’re surprised that such a young car can have turbo issues already but yeah… Everything is possible. This Range Rover was diagnosed as “boost pressure sensor” issue which simply means that there is some problem on the turbocharger controlling unit. But to confirm we have to do our own diagnostics before we do any work on this car.

Inspection

So we begin with an inspection. Firstly we confirmed that the controlling unit (actuator) on the turbocharger is not operating. The diagnostic device shows us the following code “p0235 boost pressure sensor“. We connected the actuator programmer to test its values. The device was operating correctly but something inside turbocharger was stopping it from work. We did another diagnostic test and found that carbon and soot build up around vanes inside the turbocharger causing they stuck. If the actuator can’t operate within set values it sends an error code to ECU with a message “boost pressure sensor”. This very commonly means sticky vanes and requires turbo replacement.

If you are driving your diesel vehicle in the city we do suggest to take it on motorway once a month and do a 20 miles journey on ~3000 RPM to burn all soot from turbo and exhaust system.

Turbo Reconditioning & Fitting

Along with turbocharger replacement we drain old engine oil and replace air and oil filters, then we fill the engine with brand new oil. We also replace feed pipes for new ones to ensure that oil pressure and flow will be correct. Additionally, we will inspect and clean the breathing system and turbo intercooler.

All of our turbochargers are balanced up to 250,000 RPM on the latest VSR machine. Correctly done balancing is very important for the best performance and long-lasting.
