Hello everyone! Today our garage has been visited by this black BMW X6 from 2010 with powerful 3.0 litres diesel engine. This engine is boosted by a bi-turbo system which consists of a large and small turbocharger. Owner of this car was looking for a way to gain more boost without expensive and complicated modifications. This car has already done EGR removal, flap removal and mounted straight downpipe. Is it worth it?
Difference between hybrid and standard turbocharger are noticeable straight away. When we build hybrid turbocharger we apply 25% larger compressor wheel which is ~10% lighter and slimmer than standard wheel. Internals which we use for hybrid turbochargers are made from uprated materials for extreme performance. Also, we must replace seals for better quality ones to ensure that higher pressure won’t damage them.

Whats the difference?
After remapping the difference is huge and noticeable with the first throttle press! This car has already done a few modifications which are improved boost and power already. EGR and flaps have been removed. Also, the straight downpipe is fitted so tuners had fun while mapping this one.
Boost increased over 47% which is an extremely big amount. Torque increased over 35% so this BMW pulls now like a train!

Along with turbocharger replacement, we had to do few services to ensure that the working environment will be correct. This is also important for turbocharger and engine long-lasting and better performance. We replaced air and oil filters for new ones and drained the old engine oil. Then we filled it back with brand new. Breathing system and intercooler has been inspected and cleaned for peace of mind.
